Alu barshoes

Today we added to our farrier supplies website, the TTM ali straight bar shoe

TTM alu straight bar shoe

TTM alu straight bar shoe

This shoe comes in a number of sizes – Aussie farriers generally measure the shoe across the widest part – from the outside of one branch (side of the shoe) to the same point on the other branch to give a measurement.

The one in the photo here would measure 5 1/2″ across and the manufacturer has kindly printed the measurement on the bar part of the horseshoe.

Q. What’s it for?!

A: all sorts of uses. Often to stabilise the hoof capsule. When the horse loads and unloads his weight, there’s generally expansion and return within the hoof capsule. Fitting a bar shoe such as this reduces the amount of expansion which is sometimes handy in the treatment of cracks, for injuries or problems within the foot. The bar is often said to also provide some support to the heels/caudal (rear) part of the hoof.

The aluminium alloy material used in the manufacture of these shoes means the shoe is strong yet light in weight. Using a light weight shoe can reduce the change in gait that adding any horseshoe (the extra weight) can bring. Simply put, it can help make it easier for the horse to move forwards.

These unclipped shoes are well designed and engineered by TTM. The toe nails are pitched – meaning the farrier can get a better angle when nailling on at the toe. The hoof wall is more sloped at the heels and relatively upright at the heel area. Upright nail holes at the toe can make it difficult to get the nail at a suitable angle to hit strong hoof wall which will keep the shoe in place suitably. Not a problem with these shoes.

The TTM shoes are also seated out which means the inside edge of the shoe on the foot surface has been forged away to take away the sharp edge. It is this sharp edge which can on some horses press on the sole and cause sole pressure and soreness.

A hardened steel toe insert has been fitted at the toe area to help with wear.

As with most of our products, These shoes ship for free within Australia.

Hoofjack

We supply the Hoofjack farrier stand which is very popular with Australian farriers and horse owners.

Hoofjack

Hoofjack

The HoofJack has interchangeable post (with the rubber cap) and a cradle.

The post is for taking the foot forwards (for finishing off etc) and the cradle can be used for resting the horses limb on and works particularly well on hind feet (which are often the heaviest!).

The fabric strap on the cradle is suspended and is comfortable for the horses and ponies.

The post and cradle are height adjustable so you can work at a level which is most comfortable for horse and human. The simple tension knob on the side makes it very quick and easy to adjust the height of the post or cradle and also makes changing between the two simple and fast.

The green base is made from a lightweight and durable material which is near impossible to break….

The Hoof Jack has two strong magnets affixed to the side of the base – ideal for carrying a rasp, nippers or other tools across the paddock or wherever it is you’re going.

Made in the USA, the Hoofjack is our best selling hoof stand and cradle in Australia.

This is one of those tools that once you have, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without one.

LIke most of our other products, we ship Hoofjack with free standard shipping within Australia.
